Hartford Insurance Sues Gillespie: the suit against Insurance Commissioner Roxani Gillespie in Los Angeles Superior Court Tuesday seeks to block the implementation of her department’s emergency Proposition 103 regulations as unconstitutional. Gillespie’s regulations are “overly burdensome to implement and prohibit Hartford from setting its auto insurance rates in a manner that is even remotely related to its actual costs,” the suit said. Hartford Insurance is asking the court to order Gillespie not to enforce the emergency regulations and issue lawful ones. There was no immediate response from Gillespie.
