LAGUNA BEACH : Controlled Burn of Brush Scheduled
- Share via
A controlled burn to clear 500 acres of brush and dry vegetation in the Emerald Canyon area is planned sometime this week, depending on the weather, County Fire Department officials said.
The burn, to be conducted jointly with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, depending on wind conditions, said a Fire Department spokesperson.
Emerald Bay, north of Laguna Beach, was the site of a 550-acre brush fire in 1979 that seriously injured one firefighter and damaged a home.
