A fire caused $100,000 in damage to a Northridge house Tuesday night, but there were no injuries, the Los Angeles city Fire Department reported.
The fire, caused by a flammable substance that caught fire in the garage, broke out about 10:35 p.m. in the 10800 block of Sylvia Avenue and was extinguished in 26 minutes, Fire Department spokesman Greg Acevedo said.
Most of the damage occurred in the garage and the attic, Battalion Chief Jack Monroe said.
Fire officials feared that wind-borne sparks and flames taller than nearby trees might ignite other houses in the area, but no other fires broke out, Monroe said.
