SEAL BEACH — An elderly couple were found dead in their bed in a Leisure World residence Saturday morning after an apparent murder-suicide, authorities said.
Seal Beach Police Sgt. Michael Vasquez said Leisure World security guards investigating a report of suspicious circumstances knocked on the door, and when no one answered, crawled through a window. They found the man, 80, and his wife, 72, dead of gunshot wounds in their bed and notified police about 9:10 a.m., Vasquez said.
“We believe it was a murder-suicide,” Vasquez said. He said he understood that the woman had been sick, but he did not know the extent or nature of the illness.
