A 19-year-old man died Saturday after gunmen opened fire on an auto that was pulling away from a Sun Valley gas station, police said.
Friends took the victim, Ricardo Perez, to Pacifica Hospital in Sun Valley, where he was pronounced dead at 11:39 a.m., said Officer Glenn Grenadier of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Perez said the victim’s friends told police they had just bought gasoline at Lankershim Boulevard and Strathern Street early Saturday when three or four apparent gang members ran up to the car and began firing.
