Wasserman, Mahoney Part Ways: One of the entertainment industry’s top public relations agencies, Mahoney/Wasserman, is no more. Wednesday, Paul Wasserman split with his partner of 27 years, Jim Mahoney, in what the two referred to in a news release as an “amicable” split. Mahoney, who was the founder of the firm, will continue to run it under the name Mahoney Communications Inc., and Wasserman has not divulged his future plans. The agency represents “Cheers,” “The Young Riders” and “Ann Jillian” as well as Bob Hope, Jack Lemmon, Carroll O’Connor and others. Wasserman represents the band U2 as well as Jack Nicholson, and he is handling the publicity for Nicholson’s new film “The Two Jakes.”
