GIRLS’ PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Champion Leads Orange Past Costa Mesa, 59-56

Nicole Champion scored four of her game-high 28 points in overtime to lead Orange High School to a 59-56 victory over Costa Mesa in the consolation quarterfinals of the Irvine girls’ basketball tournament at Woodbridge High School.
Champion, a senior, also had a game-high 17 rebounds for the Panthers (1-1). Freshman Olivia DiCamille had 15 points for the Mustangs (0-2).
In another Irvine tournament game:
Dana Hills 53, Irvine 33--Erin Schimeneck scored 18 points and had nine rebounds for the Dolphins (1-1) in a consolation game at Irvine. Judy Gettys scored 21 points for the Vaqueros (0-2).
In the Fullerton tournament:
Rosary 37, Sonora 22--Diane Wiskus had 21 points and seven rebounds for the Royalettes (1-0) in a first-round game at Fullerton.
In the Saddleback tournament:
Los Amigos 38, Santa Ana 35--Carrie Elsaesser scored 10 points and had six blocked shots for Los Amigos (2-1) in the third-place game.
In nonleague games:
Marina 53, Foothill 26--Milisa Sortino had 13 points, including three three-pointers, five assists and seven steals to lead the Vikings (2-0) over the Knights (0-1) at Foothill.
Buena Park 62, Magnolia 39--Joyce Pea had 19 points and 10 rebounds for visiting Magnolia (0-1).
