Westlake Trustees OK Merger With Harvard

Despite parental outcry, the Board of Trustees of Westlake School for girls Monday voted 16-5 to merge the Holmby Hills private girls’ school with Harvard School for boys in Studio City, several trustees said.
However, the merger cannot go through until resolution of a pending lawsuit brought by four mothers seeking to block it. The matter will be decided by Superior Court Judge Miriam Vogel after a Dec. 22 hearing.
Two trustees have joined the “Westlake Mothers,” saying they were not given adequate information to make an informed decision. One, Anita May Rosenstein, said after the vote, “I feel that the deal is nothing more than a gift of Westlake to Harvard.”
