Pepperdine Opens at UC Santa Barbara

GOLETA — Pepperdine’s basketball team will open its season against UC Santa Barbara at 4 p.m. today at Santa Barbara’s Campus Events Center.
Wave Coach Tom Asbury, whose team was 20-13 last season, said that his starters will be Geoff Lear and Tom Lewis at forwards, Damon Braly or Rex Manu at center and Craig Davis and Shann Ferch at guards.
Santa Barbara, 21-9 last season, features guard Carrick DeHart, who averaged 16 points a game last season.
