WORLD IN BRIEF : SOUTH AFRICA : Inquiry on Political Slayings Demanded

The family of two slain human rights lawyers demanded an independent judicial inquiry into allegations that South African police carried out political murders. Mbasa Mxenge, 25, asked President Frederik W. de Klerk to order an inquiry into the killings of his father, Griffiths, in 1981 and his mother, Victoria, in 1985. An ex-police captain has said he led a death squad from 1980-1982.
