P.M. BRIEFING : Korean Banks Set China Loans

HONG KONG — Some South Korean banks are preparing to lend money to cash-strapped China after Japanese and Western institutions pulled out of the market following the June 4 crackdown, Korean bankers in Hong Kong said today.
Although China and South Korea have had no diplomatic ties since 1950 when China intervened on the side of North Korea in the 1950-53 Korean War, the move is already under way.
