THE SIDELINES : Won’t Coach Seahawks--Flores

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Responding to newspaper and network television rumors that he would replace Chuck Knox as coach at the end of the season, Seattle Seahawks President Tom Flores said such reports are untrue and ridiculous.
“There is no substance to it whatsoever,” Flores said. “I don’t know where they get their information, but this is something that hasn’t been talked about or considered by myself or (owner) Ken Behring.
“I don’t know who their sources close to the team are, but they had better come up with better ace cards.”
Fred Edelstein, a pro football expert for ESPN, said Behring’s dissatisfaction with the Seahawks’ 4-7 season would lead him to fire Knox and give the job to Flores, Behring’s close friend. Earlier this week, Gary Myers, an HBO pro football analyst, reported the same rumor.
