EAST BERLIN — The wife of former East German Communist Party leader Erich Honecker has said he is ill but not hospitalized, the youth daily Junge Welt reports.
Margot Honecker, who lost her job as education minister after 18 years, told the newspaper Tuesday that her 77-year-old husband, replaced as party chief last month, has not recovered from gallstone surgery in August.
