COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Orange Coast Beats Riverside to Clinch Men’s Soccer Title

Orange Coast College clinched the Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer title with a 3-1 victory over Riverside Thursday at Riverside in the final regular season match.
Andy Strouse scored two goals and Lance Barker added another for OCC (14-4-2 overall and 8-1-1 in conference play). It was the fifth conference title for OCC, which also won championships in 1980-81-82, 1988, and last season.
In another Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:
Fullerton 4, Golden West 3--Fullerton (13-7-2, 6-3-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead and Adrian Nawabi scored what turned out to be the winner. J.R. Ochs scored two goals for host Fullerton. Golden West ends 1-16-2, 0-8-2.
In South Coast Conference women’s soccer:
Orange Coast 2, El Camino 1--Orange Coast (8-2-2) moved into sole possession of first place. Lara Crowley scored the winning goal one minute into second half. El Camino is 7-2-2 and in second.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s volleyball:
Golden West 3, Saddleback 0--Maureen Flannigan had 13 kills and five aces as Golden West clinched the conference title at home with a 15-12, 15-5, 15-6. Golden West (15-3 overall and 11-0 in conference) has a two-match lead with one left.
Fullerton 3, Rancho Santiago 0--Lisa Papazian had eight kills to lead Fullerton to a 15-5, 15-8, 15-4 sweep at home.
