Carvalho Leads Dana Hills Past Irvine, 13-0

IRVINE — Dana Hills High School ended its season with a 13-0 victory over Irvine Thursday night before a homecoming crowd of 2,500 at Irvine.
The victory gave the Dolphins a record of 7-3 overall and 2-3 in South Coast League play.
Irvine finished 3-7 and 1-4.
Dana Hills running back Matt Carvalho went off tackle for 71 yards and a touchdown with 1:54 left in the first quarter to open the scoring. Ryan Harrison kicked the extra point for a 7-0 Dana Hills lead.
Carvalho’s touchdown was his 10th of the season. The Dolphin running back gained 107 yards in 11 carries in the first half. He finished the game with 179 yards in 27 carries, running his rushing total for the season to 1,229 yards.
After a scoreless third quarter, Harrison kicked fourth-quarter field goals of 32 and 26 yards to finish the scoring.
