FREEWAYS--Assemblyman Richard Katz (D-Sylmar), chairman of the Assembly Transportation Committee, will hold a special hearing Tuesday at the Los Angeles City Board of Public Works office regarding the seismic safety of California’s freeway system. Specific attention will be given to Los Angeles-area bridges and overpasses.
ELECTION DAY--Voters will go to the polls from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday to elect City Council members and decide local ballot issues in 14 cities across Los Angeles County. Elections are also scheduled in 68 school districts, eight water districts, one library district and a road financing authority. One election in Hermosa Beach will determine whether dogs can run free in a new city park.
