PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Trail Blazers’ backup center Rolando Ferreira has left the NBA team for a tryout with an Italian professional team.
Meanwhile, the Blazers cut rookie guards Maurice Selvin and Eric Knox after a Sunday night exhibition victory over the Indiana Pacers.
Ferreira, a 7-foot-1 Brazilian who spent most of last season on the injured list, left the Blazers’ camp on Saturday.
“It may be a good situation for him,” said Blazers’ Coach Rick Adelman. “He needs to play, and this might be the best opportunity for him.”
Portland will start fourth-year center Kevin Duckworth and bring veteran Wayne Cooper off the bench.
