La Verne : E Street Project Progresses

Bids for major construction on E Street will be opened by county supervisors Oct. 24. The construction will widen and improve E Street from Walnut Street in La Verne south past Brackett Field, along the Pomona-La Verne border to McKinley Avenue.
The project will be jointly financed by Pomona, Laverne, the county, the state and the federal government. One lane will be added in each direction, and storm drains will be installed. The widening will require the removal of 52 trees, which will be replaced later under a separate contract.
The work is scheduled to begin in January and to be completed in June.
