Raw sewage spilled onto Windansea Beach Tuesday when a pump station on Neptune Place in La Jolla lost power.
Ken Calvert of the county Department of Health Services said 9,000 to 10,000 gallons of raw sewage that was on its way to the Point Loma treatment plant flowed out to sea when Pump Station No. 21 lost power at 4 p.m.
San Diego Gas & Electric restored power an hour later. Calvert said he didn’t know the reason for the power loss. The county posted warning signs at Windansea and will be testing the ocean water for the next three days, Calvert said.
