Intel to Build Chip Systems Plant in Ireland: Santa Clara, Calif.-based Intel Corp. says it will build a microcomputer systems manufacturing plant near Dublin, Ireland, to accommodate two chip-making plants to be built there later. In addition to its $400-million capital investment, Intel is committing $300 million to training, research and development in Ireland during the next 10 years. The announcement drew a blast from some critics who said Intel should be building plants that would put Americans to work.
