Westminster : Cultural Arts Committee Set Up to Review Plans

Citing the need for a separate entity to make recommendations about cultural events the city should sponsor, the City Council has established a Cultural Arts Advisory Commission.
Under a resolution unanimously approved Tuesday, the panel will have five members and hold monthly public meetings.
The commission will review plans for “anything like a play or a musical event that the city may want to sponsor,” City Clerk Mary Lou Morey said Wednesday. “They will look at and consider activities, but the commission is advisory only. They will forward recommendations to the council.”
Up to this point, such recommendations have been made by the city’s Community Services and Recreation Department, Morey said. Anyone wishing to become a member of the commission may contact the city clerk’s office for an application.
