Santa Ana : Boy Injured Seriously as He Runs Into Street

A 5-year-old boy was seriously injured Tuesday when he was hit by a car while crossing the street near his Santa Ana home, police said.
Carlos Rosas Avila was crossing the 900 block of South Standard Avenue with his mother about 5 p.m., when he suddenly bolted across the four-lane street. The boy was hit by a northbound vehicle driven by a Santa Ana man. The boy was dragged about 25 feet before the driver was able to bring his Datsun 200SX to a stop, Police Lt. Earl Porter said.
Carlos, who suffered massive head injuries, was rushed to United Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he is was listed in serious condition, authorities said.
An investigation is under way, police said.
