The current leaders of the Writers Guild of America, West were voted back into office late last week, suggesting that the union’s membership was overwhelmingly satisfied with the outcome of last year’s grueling, five-month-long strike. Incumbent president George Kirgo won with 1,275 votes--65% of the ballots cast--while challenger Burt Prelutsky received 584 votes and L. Travis Clark received 118. Both challengers had attacked the guild’s performance during the strike and criticized the work of the union’s executive director, Brian Walton. Del Reisman was re-elected vice president and Adam Rodman, a Kirgo ally, was elected secretary-treasurer. A record 2,020 members voted.
