High School Roundup : Greco Propels Crespi to Victory in Water Polo

Junior Vince Greco scored four goals to lead Crespi High to a 9-5 victory over host Montebello in a quarterfinal match of the Bell Gardens water polo tournament Friday.
Crespi built a 5-2 lead in the second quarter and was never threatened. Junior Tom Kretzin added two goals and junior goalie Tim Behrens had nine saves for the Celts.
“There are a lot of juniors on this team,” Crespi Coach Jeff Thornton said. “And we’ve got a pretty good team here.”
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Hart 12, La Canada 6--Kristin Gildersleeve and Laura Eckerman swept their doubles matches for Hart in a season-opening nonleague match at home.
In singles play, Hart’s Karyne Ghantous and Cindy Courtemarsh each won two of three sets.
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Burroughs d. La Canada, 15-8, 15-3, 15-10--Middle blocker Jennifer Wagner had 10 kills for Burroughs in the opener for both schools at Burroughs.
Teammate Jeannie Russell, a setter, added 19 service points.
