Solon Finishes First in Race Across AMerica

Paul Solon of Tiburon, Calif., won the Race Across AMerica Monday, finishing the 2,908-mile bicycle race in 8 days 8 hours 45 minutes.
Solon crossed the finish line in New York City at 11:45 p.m. EST.
He finished well ahead of Mike Secrest of Scottsdale, Ariz. Secrest reached Bernardsville, N.J., at 12:40 a.m. today.
Solon had reached Bernardsville at 8:10 p.m. and rested for 15 minutes.
Susan Noporangelo of Harvard, Ill., is the only woman remaining in the race. She was in eighth after reaching Grantsville, Md., at 9:57 p.m.
The race began in Costa Mesa on Aug. 13.
