An aspiring professional singer dramatized his guilty plea for soliciting sex for money by bursting into song in a Los Angeles courtroom.
“I Love You Just the Way You Are,” Bernardo Joe Perez, 23, warbled to Van Nuys Municipal Court Commissioner Patricia Gorner Schwartz on Friday.
“That’s what got you into trouble in the first place,” Schwartz replied.
Not to be outdone, Deputy City Atty. David S. Kestenbaum said: “He should be singing ‘Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places.’ ”
Perez was placed on probation for one year and ordered to pay a $150 fine or serve five days in jail, the standard sentence in such cases.
