Mockett defeated Karen Weiss, 2 and 1, in the first round of match play. She then defeated Leslie Shannon, 2 and 1, in the afternoon.
Mockett will face Sarah LeBrun today in the third round. LeBrun defeated Sheila Luginbuel, and Jodi Figley, both by 2-up scores.

Sander, 51, who won the title in 1961 and 1963, scored upsets over Tanna Lee, 3 and 2, and Nanci Bowen, 4 and 3. Thompson, 40 and the 1973 champion, defeated Jennifer Buchanan and Phyllis Preuss by 3-and-2 scores.
Among the losers were medalist Pat Hurst, who lost to Figley, 4 and 3. Figley was the last player chosen for match play, and had to win a sudden death playoff to make Tuesday’s cut.
