Costa Mesa : Times Photographers Win Awards at Fair

Orange County Fair officials awarded their highest prize for photojournalism to Times photographer Gail Fisher, who won the sweepstakes after placing first in two categories, second in three categories and fourth in one category.
Eight other Times photographers won awards, including David Muronaka, who won first place in the news category, and Richard Koehler, who won first in the feature category.
Altogether, Times photographers won 18 of 29 awards in the fair’s 12th annual Press Photographers Contest. The fair opens July 12 and runs through July 23 at the County Fairgrounds.
Paul Rodriguez of the Orange County Register won the sports category, Ed Carreon of the Register won the picture-story category and Nick Souza of the Orange Coast Daily Pilot won for animal and nature photography.
