PORTLAND, Ore. — An airport security guard was shot in the leg by a man wielding a rifle who said he wanted to hijack a plane to Cuba, authorities said today.
Guard Donald Hudson was shot Monday night after he barred the man’s entrance to an airport gate, said Doug Roberts, a spokesman for Portland International Airport. Hudson was listed in satisfactory condition at a hospital here.
Gary Thompson, 39, of Cornelius, Ore., was arrested on charges of attempted murder and attempted air piracy, Roberts said.
