Qatari Paper Urges Israel Be Pressured

NICOSIA, Cyprus — A Qatari newspaper urged Arabs on Friday to exert pressure on the United States and West European countries to force Israel to stop attacking Arab groups in Lebanon.
In a commentary carried by the official Qatari news agency, monitored in Nicosia, the newspaper Al-Raya said Arabs should not be satisfied with denunciations of the attacks.
“Firm action must be taken to deter the Israeli enemy which in its hostility to the Arabs does not differentiate between one state and another,” it said.
It called for what it termed a “united and clear Arab stand to pressure the U.S. and West European countries to make the Israeli entity halt its aggression which violates international law and norms.”
