PARIS — Yoko Ono, widow of ex-Beatle John Lennon, demonstrated her support for the pro-democracy student movement in Beijing today by smashing a Chinese vase in front of 1,000 people at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
She then handed out the pieces to the audience.
It was the first time she had engaged in any kind of “performance art” since the Beatles broke up in 1969.
The Japanese artist is currently exhibiting her work at a Paris art gallery.
