EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — A suspended driver drove a bus through three plate-glass windows at a garage, and fled by catching another bus, officials say.
The driver, Rene Rose, 27, had been suspended Wednesday, said Thomas Sturgess, director of communications for the Bi-State Development Agency, a transit and economic development agency in the St. Louis metropolitan area, including parts of Illinois.
Rose stopped a bus shortly after midnight on Thursday and forced the driver to take it to the garage where the buses are stationed, he said.
The bus drove between two saplings, crashed through the windows and became wedged in the garage’s lounge and snack bar, the Belleville News-Democrat reported.
She was being held on charges of resisting arrest and traffic violations, said Officer Willie Haire of the East St. Louis Police.
