John F. Penry was named president and chief executive of Pacific Standard Life Insurance Co., headquartered in Davis. Since 1985, he had been a private consultant in financial services and insurance. At Pacific Standard, he succeeds Clifford N. Gamble Jr., who resigned to pursue other interests, the company said.
