Off-Shore Drilling or Conservation

Federal Government scientists estimated that the total deposit of raw oil off the Orange County coast is equivalent to just over a week’s worth of foreign imports.
Is this worth the risk of instituting Lease Land Sale No. 95, the risk of catastrophic oil spills, air pollution, toxic dumping off the drilling platforms, the damage to commercial fishing, the danger to wildlife and the risk of losing the tourist industry of Orange County?
Ours is the most wasteful of nations. Shouldn’t we, instead, spend our energies and resources on education, conservation and awareness?
