Large Rise in Earnings Reported by HemaCare

HemaCare Corp. said its earnings more than tripled to $178,657 in the first quarter that ended March 31 from $55,491 a year earlier.
The Sherman Oaks company, which sells blood products and provides blood banking, said its revenue rose 19% to $1.3 million. The company’s earnings rose mainly because of a big jump in providing hemapheresis, or blood treatment services, in the Los Angeles area.
