JERUSALEM — U.N. relief officials today demanded that Israel stop using gunfire to quell Palestinian protests.
The U.N. Relief and Works Agency, which aids Palestinian refugees, said 13 Palestinians, six of them younger than 15, were shot to death by Israeli troops in the last week. “We deplore this loss of life and call for a halt to the use of lethal firepower against civilians, young and old,” the agency said in a statement issued in Vienna and distributed in Jerusalem.
