Crude Oil Prices Surge: After hovering near Friday’s close for most of the day, oil prices rallied in late afternoon trading, following strong gains in gasoline prices ahead of the summer driving season. West Texas Intermediate, the benchmark U.S. crude, closed up 53 cents at $21.22 a barrel for May delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange. May gasoline contracts firmed 2.06 cents to 72.08 cents a gallon on the New York Mercantile. May heating oil was up 0.85 of a cent to 53.76 cents a gallon. “There are worries of longer-term supply problems going into the summer driving season,” said one trader.
