Bobby Humphrey, the all-time leading runner in Alabama football history, will give up his last year of eligibility to enter the National Football League supplemental draft, the Birmingham News reported.
Humphrey will appear at a news conference today, but school officials said they have not been told what he has decided.
However, the newspaper quoted sources as saying Humphrey, who would be a fifth-year senior, decided against returning for the 1989 season after learning he could not get enough insurance coverage to make it worthwhile if he suffered a career-ending injury.
