Saugus’ Lewis Pitches 6th Softball No-Hitter

Cathy Lewis pitched her second consecutive no-hitter and sixth of the season Tuesday as Saugus High defeated Burroughs of Ridgecrest, 1-0, in an eight-inning Golden League softball opener at Saugus.

Lewis (9-6), a senior left-hander, struck out 18 and walked two. Lewis, who has lost five 1-0 games this season, pitched a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts last Thursday against Notre Dame.

Corrinne Ochoa led off the eighth inning with a walk, advanced to second on a single by Amanda Colvin and to third on a sacrifice by Westie Gray. Ochoa scored the game’s only run on a wild pitch with Lewis at the plate.
