Two people were killed in possible gang-related shootings Sunday.
Violence erupted outside a party in the Willowbrook area of South Los Angeles when members of two rival gangs clashed, Los Angeles County sheriff’s investigators said.
Daniel Garcia, 16, was shot at 1:30 a.m. after briefly arguing with two men, according to Deputy George DuCoulombier. Garcia was taken to Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center, where he died three hours later.
Echo Park Shooting
In the other incident, Adolfo Padron, 17, was shot and killed outside a wedding reception in the 2500 block of West Temple Street in Echo Park, Los Angeles police said. A 13-year-old female companion was wounded.
Padron had asked three uninvited guests to leave the party, and when he departed about 1 a.m., they confronted him in a parking lot across the street.
One of the intruders shot him and wounded a girl who also was in the lot, police said. There were reports that one suspect was a gang member, but investigators said they had not verified the report.
