County’s Top Teams to Compete in Track Championships Today
- Share via
More than 1,000 athletes from 42 area high schools will compete today in the Orange County Boys’ Track and Field Championships at Rancho Santiago College.
The meet will feature most of the county’s top teams, including defending champion Canyon, Capistrano Valley, Edison, Santa Ana Valley and Woodbridge.
Although some of the teams will not be at full strength--about 30 county athletes will be competing in the prestigious Arcadia Invitational tonight at Arcadia High School--the meet should include a majority of the county’s track and field talent.
Top individuals expected to compete include Louie Muniz, a hurdler, long jumper, sprinter and relay runner from Woodbridge; Joe White, one of the county’s best sprinters from Capistrano Valley, and Loara high jumper Greg Ramsey.
Mission Viejo will play host to the meet, which is scheduled to begin with the long jump at 9 a.m. and conclude with the mile relay at 5 p.m.
