Candidates and Propositions in Tuesday’s L.A. Election

In recent weeks I have seen information about Prop. 2, the police facilities bond issue for $176 million. I am glad someone is doing something about improving the quality of our police facilities.
Few of us realize the magnitude of the odds the men and women of the police force face during the course of their daily duties. They are outnumbered, outgunned and outspent by the criminal element they seek to control--on our behalf. If they are willing to put their lives on the line “to serve and to protect,” the least we can do as citizens is give them the proper tools to do their job.
The amount we as homeowners will pay is a drop in the bucket compared to costs we now pay as a result of criminals and the crimes they commit. What impresses me most about Prop. 2 is the distribution of funds--from Encino to L.A. Harbor, from the Eastside to the Westside--all the money will go to improve facilities and not to administrative costs.
