Local News in Brief : Groups Sue to Stop New-Homes Project

Environmentalist and homeowner groups sued Los Angeles County on Thursday in an attempt to overturn its approval of 150 homes on the former site of the Renaissance Pleasure Faire in Agoura.
The lawsuit by the Sierra Club and the Las Virgenes Homeowners Federation alleges that the county ignored state environmental laws March 2 when it gave builder Brian Heller the go-ahead for an increased number of homes on the hilly 320-acre site coveted by the National Park Service.
The Board of Supervisors voted 3 to 1 to allow Heller to build 150 homes on the site.
The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, charges that the county’s approval was based on an environmental impact report that “did not evaluate the alternative of public acquisition of the subject parcel.”
