Goldman Sachs Gets Capital Infusion: Goldman, Sachs & Co. said a group of seven major insurance companies have invested $225 million in new capital in the company. The New York investment banking firm said the insurance companies, which were not identified, will be passive investors and have no voting rights or role in the management of Goldman Sachs. The new capital will enable Goldman to “maintain our position as a leading global investment banking firm and to support our clients’ market objectives,” said senior partner John L. Weinberg.
