A Simi Valley man has been charged with possessing property stolen from the home of Assemblywoman Cathie Wright (R-Simi Valley), police said Thursday.
Gregory Thomas Cross, 31, was arrested March 7 in the Feb. 3 theft of rings, gold chains, gold charms, binoculars and two mink coats, valued at $3,100, Simi Valley police said. He was released on $5,000 bail.
Cross was charged Wednesday with two counts of possession of stolen property by the Ventura County district attorney’s office. His arraignment is scheduled April 21.
Detectives recovered about $900 worth of the jewelry that had been sold to pawnshops in Simi Valley and San Fernando. Police said they linked the stolen property to Cross after questioning pawnshop employees.
A report filed with Simi Valley police says Cross had been dating a roommate of Wright’s daughter, who lives in her mother’s home.
