Prep Baseball Roundup : Ocean View Wins on Karliner 3-Hitter

Sophomore Randy Karliner pitched a three-hitter as Ocean View High School defeated El Dorado, 7-1, Tuesday in the semifinals of the Santa Ana Elks baseball tournament at Rancho Santiago College.
Karliner had a no-hitter going into the sixth inning. He struck out four and didn’t walk a batter.
Steve Hernandez had three hits, including two doubles, and had two runs batted in for Ocean View (9-2).
El Dorado is 8-3.
In other Santa Ana tournament games:
Mission Viejo 6, Diamond Bar 5--Steve Evans pitched two scoreless innings to preserve the victory for Mission Viejo (6-2) in the other championship semifinal at Tustin High School. Mission Viejo scored three runs in the third, two on a double by Don Disbro.
Los Alamitos 9, Irvine 7--The Griffins (4-6) scored six runs in the first inning, three on a triple by Sal Mancuso, and never trailed in a consolation semifinal game at Santa Ana High.
In the Anaheim Lions tournament:
La Quinta 6, Westminster 6--La Quinta advances to tonight’s final on a tiebreaker--most runners to reach third base. La Quinta (9-2-1) plays Kennedy at Glover Stadium at 7 p.m.
Canyon 9, Savanna 7--Ryan Puskas had three hits, including a two-run homer, to lead Canyon (5-5) to the consolation semifinal victory.
Troy 7, Anaheim 6--Tom Wilson was two for three with a run scored and an RBI for Troy (5-2). He also struck out the final two batters to pick up the save.
In the North Santa Barbara tournament:
Capistrano Valley Christian 3, Santa Barbara 2--Kevin Binias (3-0) pitched a three-hitter for Capistrano Valley Christian (5-2) in a consolation semifinal at Santa Ynez High.
In the Newport/Mesa Pride of the Coast tournament:
Leuzinger 12, Capistrano Valley 4--Tyrone Scott (4-1) pitched a two-hitter, striking out 14, for Leuzinger (8-1-1) in a semifinal game at Corona del Mar.
Corona del Mar 17, Lynwood 4--Todd Kehrli had three hits, including two home runs, and five RBIs to lead the Sea Kings (4-5) in a consolation semifinal game at Corona del Mar.
Bolsa Grande 6, Glenn 4--Tobi Ulemek hit a two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to give the Matadors (6-3) the victory in a consolation semifinal at Newport Harbor.
In the Angelus League:
Bishop Montgomery 5, Mater Dei 3--Walker Knutzer had three hits and two RBIs for Bishop Montgomery (10-1-1, 1-1) at home. Jim Kelly had two hits and three RBIs for Mater Dei (7-3, 1-1).
St. Paul 4, Servite 0--Steve Duda (3-1) pitched a six-hitter for St. Paul (6-3, 1-0) at Servite (6-3-1, 1-1).
