Reid Takes Over as BYU Coach

Roger Reid, for 11 years an assistant to basketball Coach Ladell Andersen at Brigham Young University, Monday was named to replace Andersen.
Andersen, 60, stepped down Friday after a 14-15 season in which the Cougars failed to survive the Western Athletic Conference tournament.
During the 1987-88 season, the Cougars were 26-6 and were ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press poll at mid-season.
Under Andersen, Reid, 41, had been responsible for BYU’s defense and also had coordinated the Cougars’ recruiting efforts since he joined the staff in 1978.
