LOCAL : Fullerton Woman Killed in Crash; Other Driver Suspected of Drinking

A Fullerton mother who had just watched her teen-age daughter play softball died after a suspected drunk driver ran a red light and crashed into her car, authorities said today.
Police said that Sue Brasington, 39, a church volunteer worker and mother of two teen-agers, was turning off Tamarack Avenue to go east on Lambert Road Thursday afternoon when a Ford pickup truck driven by Steven Spaur, 30, of Whittier ran the light and crashed into Brasington’s Chevrolet van about 4:53 p.m.
Both drivers were taken to Brea Community Hospital. Brasington was pronounced dead on arrival.
Spaur, who did not have a valid driver’s license, was treated and released. He was later arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony drunk driving. He was being held in the Orange County Jail on $25,000 bail.
One of Brasington’s friends said she had just left a Rosary Junior High School softball game at Tamarack Park, where she and her husband, Mitchell, had been watching their 14-year-old daughter, Courtney, play.
