A judge ordered two landlords Thursday to begin immediate repairs on a broken sewer line that has spewed raw sewage from an apartment house into a yard and onto sidewalks since August.
Deputy City Atty. Kevin Ryan sought the temporary restraining order against Albert Ahobim of Beverly Hills and Jack Hakim of Carmel after the city received numerous complaints from the tenants and neighbors.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Kurt Lewin granted the order, which outlines various repairs the landlords must make on the sewer line at the eight-unit apartment complex at 442 S. Lake St.
Neighbors complained they were forced to keep their windows closed because of the stench and that rats that were attracted to the sewage.
