Rob Johnson pitched a six-hitter to lead UC Irvine to a 6-2 victory over Biola in a nonconference baseball game Monday at UC Irvine.
Irvine (8-12-1) scored four runs in the fifth to take a 5-2 lead. Al Rodriguez had a two-run single and the other runs came on errors. Johnson (3-4), a senior left-hander, had four strikeouts and walked two.
In another nonconference baseball game:
Southern California 7, Redlands 2--Kendall Kasper had four hits and scored twice for host Southern California (10-11). Vance Costelow hit a two-run home run in the first inning for SCC. Redlands is 7-8. Paul Plyler (1-2) pitched the first five innings for the victory.
